Dana's Snack Mix

You can buy hulled sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds in bulk at most health food shops and you should be able to get raw cashew pieces there, too.

Ingredients

6 tbsp butter
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp onion powder
500 g raw, shelled sunflower seeds
500 g raw, shelled pumpkin seeds
150 g almonds
110 g pecans
110 g walnuts
110 g raw cashew pieces


Method

1. Preheat the oven to 130°C/Gas Mark ½.


2. In a small pan, melt the butter and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, seasoned salt and onion powder.


3. In a large bowl, combine the nuts and seeds. Pour the melted butter mixture over them and mix very well.


4. Put the mixture in large roasting tin and bake for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.


5. Allow the mixture to cool and store in an airtight container.

Yield:- 18 servings, each with 14 grams of carbohydrate and 5 grams of fibre, for a total of 9 grams of usable carbs and 13 grams of protein.
